Morphy Richards

Donal Morphy and Charles Richards formed Morphy-Richards in 1936, in Kent. They had raised £1000 and initially began making electric fires.

In 1938 Morphy Richards began making electric irons – which continues to this day – as well as components for the aircraft industry during the war years. By 1944 Morphy Richards was producing 2,000 irons a day!

In 1954 it produced a steam iron; a revolutionary product even 15 years later. By 1957, it was the UK’s leading provider of electric blankets, had produced its 10 millionth electric iron and was producing 60% of the toasters made in the UK.

Currently more households in the UK have a Morphy Richards product than any other small appliance brand – Morphy Richards efforts are dedicated to a future where this will continue to be the rule.
