A Twit-tawoo at Hughes

The Fakenham Team had a thoroughly enjoyable time fundraising for Norfolk Wild Encounters this past Thursday. The local falconer and entertainment group brought a collection of raptors and owls to the store for Market Day to educate and inspire the local community with these beautiful birds.

Their feathery arsenal of cuteness included a barn own, burrowing owl, horned owl, eagle owl, tawny owl, a peregrine falcon and a kestrel. With a large array of small bird inspired trinkets and keychains, Fakenham store were running their Tassimo coffee machines to deliver lovely coffee and hot chocolates along with cakes and biscuits to raise money for this worthwhile cause.

The staff enjoyed talking to customers with an owl on hand to share their wisdom on the latest electronic products on offer. Even Bomber the burrowing owl could not help but get caught up watching the Panasonic 50” Ultra HD TX50CX802B when some of his more formidable compadre aired on screen in 4K.

nwe_fakenham-1Fundraising is just as important as raising awareness for the rehabilitation of injured and abandoned birds as the cost of food and shelter is high. Needing a godly amount of space, the mews of individual and mating birds is a lot bigger than the average garden shed and takes a lot of maintaining. Needing to be fed a strict diet and weighed daily to maintain their fly-ability, owls and falcons need a lot of TLC and almost 24 hour care.

Norfolk Wild Encounters run entertainments and events, including wedding ceremonies throughout Norfolk. So if you are interested in having them for a local fete or a flying display you can get in contact with them on their Facebook page.
