Michelle’s favourite entry-level Bluetooth Speakers

Guest blog by Michelle

With the current popularity in Bluetooth speakers I’m here to help you decide which entry-level speaker best suits your needs with a review of three Bluetooth-ready speakers that currently cost less than £30.00. I will be looking at the Goodmans GLEDBTSPK, the Philips BT3000 and the Toshiba TYWSP52 and comparing the main features so you can make the best choice for you.

If you’re looking for a speaker that comes with its own disco look no further than the Goodmans GLEDBTSPK. With multiple animated coloured LEDs that pulse to the music, a passive radiator for deeper bass and a high performance double coil speaker you’ll certainly be able to impress. Understandably, the visuals come at the price of battery life, but they still deliver an estimated 3 hours – just enough to get the party started. If you want something to brighten up your house this is perfect but spend too long away from a power supply you’ll probably find the party’s cut short.

Pros – Lightshow

Cons – Battery life

Of the three speakers the Philips BT3000 is the biggest. If you’re someone who wants a big, relatively cheap speaker for the home – with the option of bringing it along to the beach or garden – then this is perfect for you. In comparison to the Toshiba it is considerably larger; roughly four times the width, so perhaps not the first choice if you are taking it on holiday abroad. It does put out a fairly high level of volume and has a good level of bass for such a well-priced speaker. The only problem is that this is the only one without a built in battery, instead taking four AA alkaline batteries.

Pros – Good sound, value for money

Cons – Size and battery options

If you’re like me and want a speaker that’s small, has a good battery life and decent sound quality then this is the speaker for you. It’s very portable, and would easily fit in a bag for use out and about. It has an amazing battery life at an estimated 13 hours! It also comes in a range of colours (black, white and walnut wood effect). Admittedly, the sound quality could use a bit more detail but it can certainly go loud enough to fill a room. If you’ve got a keen ear for music you might find yourself missing the bass. That said, it’s great for the price and ticks all the other boxes.

Pros – Value for money, battery life

Cons – Bass reproduction could be deeper, treble could be more open.

So there we have it, three Bluetooth speakers for under £30.00. Each have their own pros and cons but hopefully this has helped you find the perfect one for you. Although if you’re still in two minds about which one is best for you come and hear the difference in store. Find your local store and ask about demos or buy online from our wide range of Bluetooth speakers.
