Recipe: Rotten Apples

Recipe supplied by Neff,

Serves: 4 – 6.

Ingredients:

Apples:

4 eating apples – preferably a sharp and rich variety like Jazz or Braeburn

2 heaped tbsp Nutella

Crumble topping:

50g unsalted butter cold, cut into small cubes

100g plain flour

2 tbsp cocoa powder

50g caster sugar

Instructions:

1.Preheat the oven to CircoTherm® 175°C.

2.First make your crumble topping. Place the butter, flour and cocoa powder in a bowl and rub the flour and cocoa powder into the butter using your fingertips until you have breadcrumbs, then stir in the sugar.

3.Hollow out your apples using a melon baller/scoop, but leave the base of the apples intact.

4.Spoon a heaped tablespoon of Nutella into each apple and place the apples on a baking tray.

5.Spoon crumble mixture over the top of the apples.

6.Place any leftover crumble mixture on a (separate) small baking tray in a thick layer.

7.Place the apples in the oven and cook for 25-30 minutes – until the apples soften. Add the tray of extra crumble to the oven for the last 15-20 minutes until crunchy.

8.Remove from the oven and place the apples on serving plates. Top each with a gummy worm or two and sprinkle extra crumble mixture on the plate.

Tip: You can sprinkle a few freshly chopped mint leaves or some dried rose petals into the dirt for a more leafy-compost look to your dirt.
