Review: Bosch BGL3B110GB Compact Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner

Guest blog by Keelan

The Bosch BGL3B110GB is a first-rate bagged and compact vacuum cleaner.

This machine is proof that big things can come in small packages as, despite its size, it has the same performance as a 2200W vacuum cleaner. This is thanks to its high-spin motor with aerodynamic blades which increase airflow without the need for extra power. The vacuum boasts a 4L bag which means less bag changes and that ultimately means saving you money. It is also very light, weighing in at 4.3kg as well as having four swivel wheels (compared to its three-wheeled counterparts) which gives the vacuum great manoeuvrability.

bgl3b-3What I like most about this cleaner is its versatility. Thanks to its small size, it makes the dreaded task of tackling the stairs a thing of the past as it will comfortably sit on the stairs while you vacuum. Furthermore, it’s lightweight so carrying it up the stairs is no chore. Additionally it has variable power levels to suit hard floor and carpet, which means you are saving money on energy. The 10 meter range of the machine gives it flexibility as there’s less unplugging and moving rooms; together with the automatic cord rewind which makes storing it effortless. It features clips that allow the tube to stand upright against it so that it makes it more compact for storing.

The setup of the vacuum is very straightforward, the instructions are clearly laid out and all parts fit together with ease. You get an extension nozzle, floor brush, crevice tool and an upholstery tool as standard, together with a huge 4L dust bag.

bgl3b-2bgl3b-4The hygiene filtration system has been rated “B” which is very good for a vacuum of this price range. The build quality is robust with its solid metal tube and sturdy handle; it is even aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The dust bag self-seals so no need to worry about overfilling the bag and the change indicator on the machine lets you know when the bag needs to be changed.

This vacuum doesn’t have a rotating brush so it’s initially not ideal for pet owners, but a turbo brush can be bought as an optional extra to deal with those pesky pet hairs, making this a great all-rounder.

Overall I believe this vacuum for the price is among the best out there and leaves the competition in the dust (pun intended). When comparing this to vacuums of a similar range the Bosch edges it in almost every area. With a small yet powerful design, coupled with its large dust bag capacity, the BGL3B110GB offers flexibility without compromising functionality.
