When it comes to choosing a smart speaker it can be hard to choose the right one, as there is so much choice. We think that the Bose SoundTouch 10 represents one of the best value-for-money speakers on the market at the moment, with a current retail price of £149. We asked one of our reviewers to try one out for a few weeks. Over to our Konor…

My home is usually filled with music, so I was keen to check out the Bose SoundTouch 10. The packaging is smart and the speaker is incredibly easy to set up: plug in, connect, play; it’s really that simple. When you come to connecting the speaker you can choose from Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities, meaning you can connect any smart phone or tablet straight to the speaker. Bose have also utilised multi-room functions, so you can connect as many speakers as you would like throughout your home, whether you’re just adding speakers to different rooms or whether you want to create a surround sound effect in one room, with bigger and more powerful speakers.

Whether you like to stream your favourite music or listen to a selection of stations via internet radio, this speaker will suit everyone, down to the ground. A noticeable difference when compared to similar speakers is that the SoundTouch 10 has Bluetooth capabilities, whereas many others connect through your Wi-Fi. This means if you have friends and family round who would like to connect to your speaker they are able to do so, simply and quickly, via Bluetooth.

From the off, it is apparent that this speaker has amazing sound quality in a compact, smart design. Style wise, it has a user friendly control panel on the top, with six presets ready to use. However, if the control panel is not your cup of tea, it also comes with a remote control and, of course, you can control it via an app. The SoundTouch 10 runs through the SoundTouch app, which has integrated the likes of Spotify and Deezer to make controlling your music even easier. Spotify premium users will benefit from Spotify Connect which allows you to control your music directly through Spotify, rather than the Bose app.

As well as the latest features in smart technology the SoundTouch 10 comes with a 3.5mm aux input so any older devices that cannot connect with Bluetooth are by no means surplus to requirements. The speaker itself boasts impressive sound quality with a good level of bass, which even at its loudest still sounds fantastic.

On the whole, a competitively priced speaker with incredible sound quality that certainly belies its size. This is where Bose as a manufacturer seems to outdo many of the other competitors; it can deliver the latest in smart features but maintains a fairly straightforward way of operating the speaker and the app. At the end of my review period, I decided it was well worth the money – and bought two!

The Bose SoundTouch 10 is available to buy online today in either a glossy black or a stylishly minimalist white. You can also use our Click & Collect service to pick one up in as little as one hour or ask your local store about a demo or viewing our Bose range.
