Review: Samsung MU6500 series

Samsung MU6500 Series

The outstanding Samsung MU6500 series is available in a 49”, 55” and 65” screen so there is a size to suit whichever room it’s destined for.

This model from Samsung’s curved UHD range has got all the technology needed to give you the best possible picture quality from all inputs. It has a technology called Active Crystal Colour. This gives the TV a wider colour range, over 17 million colours to be precise. The Active Crystal Colour gives you better contrast and shades of colours so you get a viewing experience like no other. It also boasts HDR technology. This gives impressive brightness, shadow detail and authentic colour ensuring you get vividly accurate colour, giving depth and life to whatever content you’re watching.

This picture on this TV is truly impressive and is Certified UHD for true colour and clarity. You don’t need to settle for anything less than certified picture quality, guaranteeing you the true hues and sharp contrast you would expect from the latest resolution standards. Basically, this TV does everything it needs to internally to make sure the picture you are seeing is the best it can be and also the most natural. Combine all of this technology with the subtle curve of the screen and you really do get a top quality picture from all angles.

The actual design of the TV makes it visually appealing, even while switched off. It has a very thin outer frame so it looks like its all screen from the front and the back is a smooth panel with all connections in one place so it keeps it nice and tidy. The stand matches the curve of the screen and is central to the screen so will fit on most TV stands.

When it comes to controlling the TV there are a few options. Out of the box you have a sleek-looking remote which controls the whole TV even though it has very few buttons. It also has voice control, so navigating the smart hub or even changing channel won’t get any easier. This remote is a total solution as it will not only control your TV, it will also control most external devices such as soundbars and Blu-ray players. The other option is to use ‘Smart View’ on a smart phone or tablet, this allows you to browse content on your TV while navigating it from either device.

This leads on to the TVs smart capability, there are a whole host of apps available. There’s everything from catch up TV services like BBC iPlayer and ITV hub; social media like Facebook and Twitter and even a web browser so you can browse the web like you do on your laptop or tablet. Another cool feature is the ability to send content such as photos and videos from your phone, tablet or computer direct to your TV wirelessly, so whether it’s the holiday snaps you want to show family or a much-loved movie on your computer you want to watch then you will find this feature most useful.

This TV has Freeview HD built-in so you will get all the free to air HD channels that your signal can bring you and built-in Wi-Fi for wireless connection to your router. It also has 3 HDMI ports, 2 X USB port, an optical port AND an Ethernet port; I can’t think of anything I wouldn’t be able to connect up!

I have had a good play with this TV, inputting Sky, a 4K Blu-ray through it and even content from a memory stick and it hasn’t disappointed. Top quality picture and the sound isn’t bad for such a thin TV although you would benefit from a soundbar if you’re a keen TV viewer.

The Smart Hub is easy to access and navigate and the processor ensures it is nice and quick, after all there isn’t anything more frustrating than wanting to catch up on your favourite TV show and your device being so slow it takes ages to get to where you need to!
