When it comes to quality televisions, Samsung never fail to deliver. This year’s curved MU9000 series set, available in sizes 49”, 55” and 65”, provides ultra high quality viewing, paired with modern smart features and a smooth, easy to navigate operating system, along with a few other Samsung signature bells and whistles.

You may be asking yourself “Why would I spend all that money on a 4K TV when there is very little content available to watch?” Well, you can put your mind to ease. Even if you are currently unable to get your hands on 4K content, you can still experience a picture that beautifully presents life-like imagery through all manner of content. Whether you’re watching through standard Freeview, using one of its many inbuilt streaming facilities or a Blu-ray player, you can always expect a clear and naturally coloured viewing experience. This is down to Samsung’s UHD (ultra-high definition) up-scaling abilities. This is a unique four-step picture improvement process that enables the clarity and detail of standard and high definition content to be enhanced to the best it can possibly be, meaning you can experience premium picture quality, whatever you want to watch.

Samsungs’ Dynamic Crystal Colour technology, in turn with the top quality panel, provides this set with the ability to produce over a billion shades of colour. To put that in to comparison, the majority of most medium-range quality televisions on the market today can “only” stretch to around 16.5 million shades. With the Dynamic Crystal Clear technology you can experience a much more natural, true-to-life colouring. Working in conjunction with this software, Samsung’s Ultra Black technology is there to help you enjoy deeper blacks any time of the day and greater clarity in even the brightest living spaces. With Ultra Black Technology you can experience vibrant, accurate colour and razor-sharp detail without ever having to close the curtains or turn off the lights.

This set also comes equipped with a subtle curve to the panel of the television, giving a much more immersive, theatrical viewing experience. The idea of a curved screen has been around for many years in the medium of cinema. All modern day cinemas project onto a curved screen to better immerse the viewer into the magic of the movie, and now you can experience this in the comfort of your own home. To further this, Samsung curved TV’s also come with an “auto depth enhancement” software, which very cleverly measures the distance of objects and scenes from the camera filming them. This information is then categorised into a foreground, mid-ground and background, giving the image an almost 3D effect.

If you’re a person who wants to have the latest tech, but you feel your understanding of technology is holding you back, have no fear with Samsung. All Samsung TV’s come equipped with their purpose-built operating system call “Tizen”. This system is powered by a quad core processor which allows for an exceptionally quick, easy and effortless control of all aspects of the TV’s smart facilities and settings. If that wasn’t enough, with the MU9000 you will also receive a smart “One for All” remote control, with which you can control all of your compatible devices and content, meaning there is no longer a need for a multitude of remote controls lying around the living room. You’ll experience complete control, enjoy seamless multi-tasking and laid-back viewing as you effortlessly change channels on your set-top box, play the latest blockbuster on your Blu-ray player, ramp up the audio on your soundbar or just surf the web on your big screen.

The MU9000 comes with an external “One Connect” connections box. This carries four HDMIs, three USBs, the set’s network port and integrated Wi-Fi, as well as tuner inputs for both terrestrial and satellite feeds, with Freesat and Freeview HD tuners built-in. The One Connect box doesn’t just carry the TV’s connections; it also houses much of the TV’s brainpower. Alongside reducing the cable spaghetti going into the MU9000s screen, the One Connect gives you some future-proofing with the potential to upgrade the TV with future Samsung features and, possibly, even new types of connection – just by replacing your One Connect box with a new one.

It’s hard to find a single fault or flaw with this TV although, as with the majority of slim TVs, I would always add a soundbar – for truly immersive audio AND visual excellence.
