Review: WPRO C00481228 Refrigerator PurifAir

Guest blog by Ria.

Au revoir smelly cheese, hello fresh fridge! Whilst not particularly fastidious about endless cleaning, I do like my fridge to be clean. As self-confessed foodies (with the waistbands to prove it), our fridge is usually full of delicious goodies.

Cheese (from France), crab (Cromer, obviously), salmon (Highlands or Norway, I forget), garlic (origin unknown), leftover tarka dal (delivery), half an onion and a bag of salad that’s swiftly getting limp (thanks “summer”). These are the more… let’s say odorous contents of our fridge. In my book, yesterday’s Indian takeaway delivery always tastes better the following day; the same cannot be said of how the fridge smells, however. When your youngest child declares “Mummy, the fridge smells ‘sgusting“ you know it’s time to either a) become a lot more virtuous by refraining from the glorious smelly foods or b) deodorise. I chose option b) and set about reviewing the WPRO Fridge PurifAir Starter kit.

The kit, all neatly packaged, includes an air filter and a battery. Simple to set up, you need only undo the screw at the back, remove the filter from the protective packaging and pop the battery in. Once done, slide the unit back together and you’re ready to banish bacteria and stifle smells!

There’s a handy clip, integrated into the design, so I popped mine onto the Shelf Of Doom (cheese shelf) and let the WPRO PurifAir work its magic. That’s exactly (give or take a little “magic”) what it did; 18 hours later, I whipped the fridge door open and braced myself for the usual camembert / crab / salmon odours to hit me. I can report, however, that the fridge smelt of… nothing. Taking a bottle of water from the fridge, it was pleasing to note that it wasn’t tarnished with the odour of the hard-boiled eggs it’d been next to.

Over the next few weeks, we made sure that we put the WPRO Fridge PurifAir through its paces with some overnight-marinated meat and fish for a barbeque, some potted smoked shrimps and even a huge bowl of kimchi! It handled them all with ease – and our food stayed fresher, for longer.

Recommended by Whirlpool, Hotpoint, Indesit, KitchenAid and Bauknecht, the PurifAir fridge air filter kit is an innovative device that will keep your fridge fresher as well as keeping it more hygienic. The filter is fitted with exclusive technology from Microban® which actively reduces the microbes that grow on your food, thereby reducing both odours and bacteria – keeping food smelling and tasting better.

Say farewell to fetid fridges and get your WPRO PurifAir today; available online or use our Click & Collect service to collect one from a store near you, in as little as one hour!
