In Sudbury we are having brand new Christmas lights this year and the Big Switch On is taking place on Friday the 28th November 2014.

The lights are going to be turned on by a lucky school pupil and the Mayor of Sudbury. The child is the winner of a competition run by the Mayor of Sudbury and the local area Primary schools.

The children were asked to design what will be the official Mayoral 2014 Christmas card.  This card will then be sent to dignitaries, including the Queen, and the winner will watch the card being printed before the big light switch on.

On the day itself, the town will be holding a Christmas Fair starting around half five with the big switch on taking place at 6.30pm

There will be lots of things going on such as:-

  • Clown Duo & Circus Skills Workshop
  • Hot Chestnuts
  • Salvation Army Band.
  • Santa’s Grotto
  • Puppet Pantomime shows
  • Children’s Rides
  • Hot Dogs & Burger stalls
  • Mulled Wine & Mince Pies
  • Sudbury Choral society –  Made up of 60 members of all ages and abilities, will be performing Carols on the night.
  • Kettle & Fish Refreshments and lots more.

Ian and his team at our Sudbury branch will be staying open to support and enjoy this Festive event and it is the only “Late Night” Sudbury does and invites you to pop down and visit.  They’re on hand to help and – to make shopping a bit more enjoyable – they’ll also be serving free coffee and mince pies during the evening.  This will be a great time for our customers to call in and pick up some Christmas gifts and look at some of the latest technology available.

This event also marks the first of Sunday trading weekends which means our Sudbury store will be open from Sunday the 30th November through until January 4th, from 10.00am – 4.00pm.
