My family is outgrowing my fridge and the freezer is in the garage (fine in the warm months but a royal pain when it’s cold) so with glee I agreed to review the Beko ASN541. It’s an American style side-by-side fridge freezer and it is one of the few on the market with ice and chilled water on tap that doesn’t need plumbing in.
It is BIG but that’s to be expected; with a height of 179cm and width of 91cm (the Beko, not me) this would’ve blocked the kitchen of my first home! It is a thing of beauty though and no wonder it’s big – this fridge freezer is packed with features, such as:-
NeoFrost
Two separate fans and evaporators help to maintain optimal humidity and freshness and ensures there are no transfer of odours between the fridge and freezer. Fans of stinky cheeses (husband, Things) and herrings and kippers (me) will love this feature.
Ice and Water Dispenser
As mentioned above, the non-plumbed ice and water dispenser allows instant access when needed for those cold drink moments. Cubed or crushed ice, you decide and the kids love this. It’s really encouraged them to drink more water and over these past few very hot and humid days this has been something of a Godsend for all of us. The inside of the fridge has a 3 litre glass tank which takes up minimal space and is easy to fill. The glass retains the cold temperature better and is dishwasher safe (a must!)

Side LED Lighting
Brighter, more durable and more energy efficient than a standard bulb, the LED lighting strips run top to bottom which makes it easy to find your food and drink and should minimise the chances of finding a jar of pesto that you opened three months ago and forgot about! “Hey, pesto!”
In-door Icemaker
Convenient and efficient, you can enjoy ice whenever you want it. It also frees up extra space in the freezer and will allow you to easily check the ice level, ensuring your G & T is always perfect!
Door Open Alarm
An alarm will sound if someone accidentally leaves the door ajar. It doesn’t say who it was but it DEFINITELY wasn’t me.
Overall, this is a great fridge freezer for our family, with two boys whose appetites are growing as quickly as they are! The fridge capacity of 368 litres spreads over 4 shelves, and with an egg tray and two separate salad crispers we were able to keep delicate leaves in one and fill the other with spuds, carrots and other veg. There’s plenty of space for fresh food and dairy produce. The full width bottle rack also accommodated our favourite wines (other beverages are available) easily. The freezer has 176 litres of space over 5 shelves and 2 drawers making separation of foods simple. Having the fridge and freezer next to each other also makes meal planning easier and quicker.
