Review: Denon DCD720 CD Player

In the music industry, CDs are still a popular way of listening to music. The rise of digital streaming services like Apple Music and Amazon Music sometimes overshadows the steady popularity of owning music in a physical format but thanks to this Denon CD player, users can listen to their digital music AND play their favourite CDs.

Denon, the world’s leading audio company, has released many renowned Hi-Fi systems and CD players in their lifetime and they are still going strong, creating products that delight music lovers.

I have been lucky enough to use this DEN-DCD720AEBKE2GB, and have been seriously impressed with the awesome and impressive audio technology!

We begin with the technical stuff, the processor. Denon use an AL32 processor in this player, it certainly creates an impactful performance. The AL32 dramatically enhances the listening experience, creating a stronger reading between the CD and the player itself; this processor will give you smooth and disruption free listening. Alongside this, the processor and its impressive reading technology, improves the sound quality of whatever you are listening to.

For example, if you are listening to Coldplay, with this technology and Denon’s integrated AL32 processor, not only would you get a seamless play through but instruments will be clear and strong, while the vocals Chris Martin provides are clear and distinguishable behind the instruments, perfectly balancing these aspects and offering crisp quality. Ramping it up with a play of Led Zeppelin’s IV CD and I was really struck by the clarity of the mandolin on “The Battle of Evermore” and the haunting vocals of Fairport Convention’s Sandy Denny. Next up was the epic track “Stairway to Heaven” and I was in awe of the sound of the backing track. You can easily pick out Jones on electric piano and Jimmy Page on acoustic guitar with Bonham’s distinctive drum entry halfway through the piece sounding particularly impressive.

Furthermore, for added sound quality Denon uses Vibration Resistant Design; this really does what it says on the tin, reducing vibration while listening, giving you clearer playback.

To give you the best quality as possible – and proving that they are leaders for a reason – Denon uses their original mechanics.

As mentioned, CDs are still relevant – particularly to those of us who own so many of them – but the rise of digital streaming has allowed us to perhaps expand what we listen to nowadays. Denon have created this player with both CD and digital listening in mind. So, not only does it play CDs but it can also play music from any digital device with music on. Devices which are included in this span from phones (such as iPhone, Android like Samsung, Sony, LG) to iPods, and MP3 players. This is made possible through a USB port on the front of the player, enabling you to listen to the music you have on your device on a bigger and better player. One listen and you will never again want to listen to your music through your phone speakers!

This Denon player also comes with a remote control with full programmable options such as source, volume, bass levels and track input capabilities to make your listening experience easier, and to ensure you don’t have to get up from your seat to change the track and adjust anything!

This Denon CD player comes in either black or silver finish. Both models are built with an aluminium front panel to match the elegance and smart design of the player.

My personal opinion of Denon is that it is such a well-loved brand for a reason, and many of our customers consider Denon as the best brand in terms of creating an audio system. Having been established since 1910, and continuing to develop amazing products proves their dominance and power in the audio industry.
