Brewed awakening!

This Friday, many of our stores are playing their part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, to raise funds for the Macmillan cancer support charity and we want YOU to come and join us!  Here’s just a selection of some of things going on in store:

  • King’s Lynn are having an in store baking competition, where the customers can unleash their inner Hollywood or Berry by judging the winner;
  • At Sudbury there’ll be cakes, tea and coffee in abundance;
  • At Bury St Edmunds Nikki and her team will be serving up coffee and cakes all morning;
  • Our North Walsham team have already got plenty of orders for cakes from their regular customers;
  • Our direct team in Ipswich will – as ever – go completely overboard and the lucky folk there will choose from Mel & Sarah’s delicious baked goodies;
  • Our Colchester Hughes Plus store will have lots of baked goodies, fancy dress, tea & coffee and a fruit loaf in a bread maker;
  • Great British Bake Off Yarmouth will have cakes and brews aplenty;
  • Fakenham are getting competitive as staff compete for the Hughes Cake Baker 2014 title;
  • Mason Road Hughes Plus team will all be making cakes (with varying skill levels!) and will have coffee & a raffle available, too;
  • The team at Ely are doing a “Pepsi” challenge for the coffee morning. Steve (who, by his own admission is less that gifted when it comes to baking)  and Bex (a really, really good baker) are both going to bake the same thing.  Pop in, see if you can tell who cooked which – and which is best;
  • Newmarket will have their very own barista (please note: barista, not barrister – we do advice on getting the best sound, not sound legal advice!);
  • At our Ipswich Upper Brook Street store you can enjoy smart demo, coffee, tablet demo, biscuits, introduction to rental, cakes, Sonos demo, balloons for children and a very exciting showcase of some of the East Anglian Student Film Festival entries.

There are currently 2 million people living with cancer in the UK. By 2030 there will be 4 million. Macmillan want to make sure they’re there for all of them.

One in three of us will get cancer and  for most it will be the toughest thing we ever face. When you’re facing the toughest fight of your life, you need a team of inspiring people in your corner with you.

That’s who Macmillan are. They provide medical, emotional, practical and financial support and push for a better cancer care system. They’re the team that gives the strength and energy to face the fight and get through it.

If you’re passing a participating Hughes store tomorrow, pop in, say hello and join in with the fun to raise more funds for this amazing charity.
