Catch up: Swaffham’s New Store

Malcoolm & Stuart Swaffham

We caught up with Stuart, manager at our London Street, Swaffham store, which opened earlier this year after many years in a store on the Market Place.  The store has continued to go from strength to strength after we bought out TK Drake the electrical retailer.  Long-term trading in the town from our Market Place store had grown a loyal customer-base so the decision to invest some £500,000 in the new store was made.

Malcolm Tuff, our regional manager for the area, said: “We are always looking for the opportunity to expand our operations in market towns and when the opportunity came to acquire the electrical business of TK Drake and its freehold premises it was too good to miss.

“This represents a significant investment for Hughes but we are also confident it will be a real boost to Swaffham as a whole and mean people can shop locally for all their electrical goods.”

Keeping a strong presence in East Anglian market towns remains a key focus for us, alongside plans to bolster our popular online business.

Stuart told us: “Very importantly we now have a large warehouse dedicated to the increasingly popular click and collect service available via our website meaning customers can drive up to the back of the store, via Theatre Street, and have the goods loaded for them.  People can browse our range online, choose what they want and we can have most items ready for them to collect, in store, after an hour.”

Stuart and the team are delighted to have welcomed customers old and new to their new store. Stuart and his team pride themselves on offering friendly expert advice on all products stocked, from Ultra High Definition TVs to washing machines, whether you are looking to rent or buy. The team are a small but select band of staff offering years of retailing experience and their customers will usually ask for them by name. Patient & knowledgeable they will offer you an impartial view on your needs and match the product to your requirements. It’s not every day you make a major purchase so they will make sure it is the right one, by guiding you through the choices in-store, matching products to your needs and offering demonstrations. They encourage you to get hands on and always say don’t be afraid to ask those silly questions!
