Cromer to host ‘Mini Monaco’ soapbox race

CROMER SOAPBOX 1

The growing success and popularity of Soapbox events, has seen ‘soapboxing’ become synonymous with daredevils, “madcap inventors” and, now and then, flashes of utter briliiance!  Soapboxing is all about creating a unique, non-motorised ‘vehicle’ and competing against the clock in a race against other like-minded souls.  This year, as a new addition to the wonderful Cromer Carnival, the soapbox race event will draw in local people, individuals and tourists as the soapboxes undergo a gently downhill-sloping course on the Runton Road.  The start features a ramp to get the momentum going, a jump and a chicane to test the strength of machines and skill / bravery / inability to brake of the plucky drivers.  This great event is likely to draw crowds from far and wide so, if you’re in the area, come along  to enjoy the weather, the scenery and to enjoy the fun that soapboxing brings!

We are therefore, delighted and not surprised to learn that Simon and the team at our Cromer Hughes Plus store will be one of the teams taking part at the event this weekend.  The picture shows the origins of the mighty machine – check back for more build pictures and a catch up with our team, after the event.

To all the teams taking part: Good luck!
