Review: Dyson DC28i Bagless Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner

Guest blog by Leandro

With spring finally upon us (after the occasional hailstorm and snow) and summer just around the corner, the time comes for us to start scrubbing and cleaning until our homes look and smell like new. If you’re thinking that it’s time to get that 8 year old vacuum which weighs a ton out of the cupboard and blow the dust off of it then now’s the time to do yourself a favour and treat yourself to a new vacuum.

Now, when it comes to choosing a new vacuum cleaner it can get overwhelming; there’s so much choice.  You have uprights, cylinders and cordless vacuums – both bagless and bagged – to choose from . That’s before you have to choose a brand: from Dyson to Miele, Bosch to Morphy Richards and other big names in the industry it can be difficult to choose the perfect vacuum cleaner for you.

dc28iI would like to take a few minutes to tell you about a vacuum from one of the best manufacturers around, one which originated in the UK: the one and only Dyson. With Dyson’s available from just over £100, we’re confident that we have the right model for you – no matter your budget.  Now, if you’re like me, you don’t want to go too cheap, so let me tell you about the mid-level Dyson, the DC28i. Currently on sale for just over £200, you can now buy one of the best and most practical vacuums on the market, or you always have the option to rent for less than £4 per week. Rest assured your money won’t be wasted on a stylish, overpriced piece of machinery – the DC28i is worth every penny.

For starters, the DC28i has a powerful motor which provides it with 257 Air Watts and uses Radial Root Cyclone technology that allows it to capture more dust while maximising suction.  You’ll need a lot of space for all that extra dirt, and that’s why the DC28i has a spacious bagless bin storage of 2 litres. It also has a 6.6 metre long cord so you can cover more ground without having to unplug it from the wall and a maximum reach of 10.5 metres ensures you can get to those hard to reach places. Its design also incorporates the popular Ball technology design which makes life easier when vacuuming by allowing smooth and effortless turns around the house. Even with all that, it still weighs in at an impressive 7.3 kilograms.

The running costs are equally impressive as the DC28i has one of the best Energy Ratings around, coming in at an A grade and brings with it a washable lifetime filter. Looking ahead, it also includes a 5 year parts and labour guarantee with Dyson and their UK-based customer service centres.

After all that if you still aren’t sold on the idea, why not pop down to your local Hughes store and ask for an in-store demonstration by one of our pleasant and knowledgeable members of staff, and if even then you still don’t think that the DC28i is the right vacuum for you we can always help you find a vacuum that suits your needs and budget.
