The Morphy Richards 400403 food mixer comes with its own box, and folds down to a third of its size, for easy storage. This is great for someone with a small kitchen as it takes up very little room in the cupboards. I decided to put the food mixer through it’s paces with a little cupcake making challenge.

The mixer came with a balloon whisk, dough hooks and cake beaters (which I used for the cupcakes) and a spatula.

Screen Shot 2015-10-06 at 10.27.37The cake beater attachment has a small plastic circle on the hook itself, which sits at the bottom of the 3.5l mixing bowl, turning the bowl as it mixes. You are able to control the speed the bowl turns at, by slowing it down with your hand.

The mixer is extremely easy to use, easy to clean and my cupcake mixture came out smooth first time. It also made making cakes so quick, including making the butter cream icing!

The only downside was the motor struggled with mixing the flour in at first, which meant I had to increase the speed temporarily to compensate for this. This does mean Screen Shot 2015-10-06 at 10.29.27 fmthat it is not suitable for heavy dough. It is also a little noisy as the lower speeds are a bit on the fast side.

I was very satisfied with the appliance, and love the fact it takes up very little space! It was super easy to clean (the bowl and the attachments are dishwasher safe too), the attachments can be ejected with ease, and I didn’t get any mixture on my hands removing them. The appliance is also really light so no straining my back to reach it from the cupboard.

My verdict: if you want a mixer that is convenient, light weight, easy to use and looks very stylish, this is the mixer for you. (And you get all this for only £49.99!)
